Chris Brown is in the #1 film in the country, “Takers,” and now that he’s done with Hollywood (for now), he’s going back to the lab.

“Me, I’m definitely writing on other people’s projects. A lot of in-house stuff,” Brown said recently in L.A. “I got a lot of artists coming out. The single ‘Deuces’ features one of my artists K-Mac and Tyga [from Young Money]. I’m pushing forward. The movie’s out, so I’mma have fun.”

Deuces” is in the top 30 ofBillboard‘s Hot 100 charts and #1 on urban radio. The record’s success is simply due to fan support. It’s part of Brown and Tyga’s Fan of a Fan mixtape and skyrocketed once the video hit virally and on MTV Jams.

“That was actually Chris’ idea,” Tyga told us about putting out a visual for the song. “I thought the record was dope. I thought it was dope for us to do that video. He got to explain his situation. It connects to his fans. His fans miss that from him.

“I think the people chose the record,” Tyga added. “We put the mixtape out, and we asked them: What record do you like the most? They was like, ‘Deuces.’ It was always coming up. It was growing on YouTube as well, like 100,000 views a day on YouTube. It was his idea to shoot the video. My homie Colin Tilly, he’s done all my videos. He’s done everything. All my mixtape stuff to the bigger stuff I’m doing now. He got it right. It’s what people wanna see, what they wanna hear.”

Despite the overwhelming success of Fan of a Fan, Tyga said he and Chris aren’t planning an official LP, but they are hitting the road together.

“I don’t think you wanna drown people too much,” Tyga said about making a full album with Brown. “We’ve been doing a lot of stuff, though. He’s on my album. We’re actually working on a tour right now. A Fan of Fan Tour at the end of the year. It’ll be dope.”

Tyga has an album coming out soon; it doesn’t have a release date yet. But his next mixtape, Well Done, will hit within the next couple of weeks. It’s going to be a Gangsta Grillz edition.

“I feel like I had to deal with [DJ] Drama. He reminded of Wayne, when he did Dedication with him,” Tyga explained. “[Wayne] was going in on every beat. All the mixtapes I’ve been dropping, they’re close to albums. They’re more songs. They have more content. This one, I wanted to rap on everybody’s beat and murder every beat that’s out. It’s fun to do that. It’s easy. I can knock that out real fast. I think Drama is dope when you wanna link up and murder beats like that.”

Some of the tracks Tyga is pilfering are Soulja Boy’sPretty Boy Swag” and Nicki Minaj’sYour Love.”

Chris Brown’s latest single “Deuces” moved to the #1 position on Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart.

The break up song, featuring Tyga and Kevin McCall, climbed from No. 7 to No. 1 in a single week, making it the biggest leap to #1 since “Bills, Bill, Bills” by Destiny’s Child in 1999.

“Deuces” is also the first record to go No. 1 and be No. 1 greatest gainer in the same week.

Eminem and Lady GaGa spend another week in the top 10 of Music Power Rankings

Posted on Friday, Aug 27, 2010 By Melinda Newman

They’re only two little words, but they’re potent. Cee-Lo’s “F*** You” is the viral video sensation of the summer. Who knew so many people had so much pent-up hostility against an ex? Or could it simply be that Mr. Green has created the catchiest, most soulful song of the year, even with out the attention-grabbing expletive? All we know is we’d like to send a big old thank-you note to the golddigger that inspired the song and inspired Cee-Lo’s best work since “Crazy.”

1. Cee-Lo (not ranked last week): His “F*** You” is the internet sensation of the summer. Hours after it surfaced last Friday, it went viral and spread like wildfire, garnering more than 3 million views on YouTube. We have only one thing to say to the A regrettably-titled radio edit, “Forget You”: “F*** You.”

2. Fantasia (not ranked): Her “Back to Me” album sells much better than expected and will likely come in at No. 2 next week, but even more importantly, the "American Idol" winner seems to be on the mend following her suicide attempt a few weeks ago.

3. Apple (No. 8): The industry is buzzing about Apple’s annual product launch next Wednesday. Will it announce a cloud-based iTunes? That could drive digital sales sky high. But will Google rain on Apple's parade as news of its plans for a music service heat up?

4. Eminem (No. 1): “Recovery” spends its eighth non-consecutive week at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. That’s the most for any male artist since Usher’s “Confessions” in2004. Note to self: album titles that hint at bad behavior play well.

5. Lucian Grange (not ranked): The new head of Universal Music Group is making quick moves. In the same week, he looks ahead by signing Lady GaGa/Sean Kingston producer RedOne to his own imprint, 2101, and honors the past by inking a deal with Annie Lennox, following her departure from her lifelong home at BMG.

6. Katy Perry (No. 5): She’s been everywhere as she promotes “Teenage Dream,” which will knock Eminem out of the top spot on next week’s Billboard 200. But with projected album sales of only 200,000 is this a dream or a nightmare as fans focus on buying individual songs from Perry instead?

7. Kanye West (not ranked): The rapper declares via Twitter that he is here to save us all one song at a time. Every Friday between now and Christmas, we’ll get a new song from West or one of his colleagues. Jesus Walks but West runs.

8. Lady GaGa (No. 6): It’s official. After inching up on Britney Spears last week, Lady GaGa officially moves in to first place on Twitter with more than 5.7 million followers. Who knew all her Little Monsters had opposable thumbs?

9. Fistful of Mercy (not ranked): All the little tastemakers cooed with the delight and clapped their hands over the formation of new group composed of Joseph Arthur, Dhani Harrison and Ben Harper, even more so because no one know of the collaboration until a secret show Tuesday night (so secret that invites were via phone call—no emails or voice mail messages). The album, “As I Call You Down,” comes out Oct. 5.

10. Chris Brown (not ranked): His song “Deuces,” from the mixtape “Fan of a Fan,” leaps to No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip Hop Songs chart, taking the biggest jump to the top spot since Destiny’s Child’s “Bills, Bills, Bills” in 1999. Just remember people, it’s okay to forgive, but never forget.

Chris Brown’s ‘Deuces’ Hits Top of Chart

Chris Breezy is back on top like he never left. The 21-year-old’s latest single “Deuces” has hit the top of the Billboard Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop chart, soaring from No. 7 to 1 in a single week. This marks the first time that a single has made such a large jump to the top spot on this chart since Destiny’s Child accomplished the same feat back in 1999 with their smash “Bills, Bills, Bills.”

Not only did Brown tie DC’s accomplishment, but he also becomes the first artist to have a single reach No. 1 and also be the greatest gainer in the same week. The breakup track serves as the standout cut from Brown’s recent collabo mixtape with Tyga, Fan of a Fan, intended to give back to all the supporters for holding him down through the good and the bad.

Brown, who stars in the newly-released action movie Takers, is prepping the release of his cinematic “Matrix” video. The clip is expected to debut in September.

takerswq Takers and The Last Exorcism delivered sizable debuts in a near photo finish for the weekend top spot, while Avatar's Special Edtion relaunch yielded modest numbers. Overall weekend business was off eight percent from the same timeframe last year, when The Final Destination led.

In Sunday's studio estimates, The Last Exorcism was barely ahead with $21.3 million versus Takers' $21 million, propped up by its $9.4 million Friday. But Takers led on Saturday and gained the overall weekend lead when Sunday's returns were counted. Both pictures, though, were overestimated, as were most movies.

Takers wound up bagging $21 million on approximately 2,600 screens at 2,206 locations. The heist thriller tripled the start of Armored, and it came in only a bit behind last summer's higher-profile The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3. Its initial attendance was also nearly 50 percent greater than similar titles like Dead Presidents, ATL and Street Kings. Distributor Sony Pictures' research showed that 52 percent of Takers' audience was female and 51 percent under 25 years old.

1. Takers $20,512,304
2. The Last Exorcism $20,366,613
3. The Expendables $9,527,937
